sprockets, sockets, grommets & gaskets
[personal profile] ivy is staying for a couple of days. We sat up late talking about the world, which is invariably a great conversation when she's involved. We also hiked through a bog, which was equally great.
Today we had brunch in a park with [personal profile] basefinder, who gave me a neat book about thin-shell concrete structures, and talked about geiger counters a lot. We were going to play scrabble but the wind was strong enough it would have blown away the board. Instead we walked around the lake and admired red-winged blackbirds and baby ducks.
Monty did not eat any little dogs. Success is sweet.
Now I'm off to modify some bicycle pedals.

Yesterday I rode this.

I just about broke my collarbone, and now have cuts and scrapes all over.

hey, knowing your tech-xpertise, are you familiar as to how best to block the EMF signal from a smart meter? it's near the bedrooms of our new rental. we are EMF sensitive

we have some of that graphite paint block, and aluminum foil sheeting, and i know it needs to be grounded to a groundwire elsewise it magnifies the signal and acts like an antenna

Re: help!

conductive sheet or mesh (if mesh, the holes through it have to be less than half the wavelength of the RF being emitted) that's grounded is what we use at work.

Re: help!

how can i find out the wavelength of a signal? ...so i can measure the mesh? i called a home safety guy that is going to measure the fields in our new found dwelling so i can be smart about this dumb technology..

Re: help!

i had a home safety person do emf readings on the home, and determined that if we paint the back wall with graphite and wrap the sides of the smart meter in 4 layers of foil, it will become a canon shooting the signal at the next door neighbour

apparently one can either reflect or absorb the field and those materials need to be grounded so they don't act as antenna

the SM signal projects sideways and foreward.

even more creepy is the neighbour's video surveillance system which looks wireless and is sending signals upwards of 2000 Gauss
